Payment, cancellations & rescheduling
Your payment
Choose a £30 deposit or pay in full when booking. Your deposit is part of the inspection price, not an extra charge. If you pay a deposit, the remaining balance is due after the inspection. The one-to-two-working-day report turnaround applies when the full price has been paid before the inspection.
How to cancel
To cancel, email info@stellarelectrics.co.uk. Include your name, inspection address and appointment date, plus your booking reference if available. You do not need to make a new booking or use an online cancellation form.
Cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment for a full refund. For later cancellations, we may deduct up to £30 from the amount paid to cover losses caused by the cancellation. We take account of costs saved and whether the slot is filled, and explain any deduction. This applies whether you paid a deposit or in full.
We use the time you send your cancellation, not the time we reply, to assess notice. The 24-hour notice period includes weekends and bank holidays.
Need another appointment?
Email us to arrange a different available appointment for the same property and service. With at least 24 hours’ notice, there is no rescheduling fee. With less notice, you can move your appointment once without a fee. We will transfer your existing payment and confirm the new appointment by email. Please contact us before the original appointment starts and wait for confirmation of your new time; you do not need to book and pay again.
If we need to rearrange
If Stellar Electrics cancels or needs to move your appointment, you can choose an alternative time or a full refund.
Your consumer cancellation rights
For consumer bookings made online or by phone, a 14-day cooling-off period normally applies, starting the day after the contract is made. If you cancel within that period before the service starts, you receive a full refund, with no late cancellation charge.
If you expressly request an early start and receive the required cancellation information, you may owe a proportionate amount for work supplied before cancellation. Your cancellation right ends on full performance only if you requested the early start and acknowledged that consequence.
Our postal address is Stellar Electrics, 112 Macmillan Way, London, SW17 6AU. You can also use our cancellation form, but this is optional.
Email is our recommended cancellation method, but any clear statement exercising your statutory right is accepted. Statutory refunds are made without undue delay, within 14 days of cancellation, using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed. These terms do not limit your statutory rights.
BEFORE YOUR VISIT
Your EICR questions, answered.
Is an electrical safety certificate the same as an EICR?
People often use electrical safety certificate, electric certificate or electric safety certificate when asking for an EICR. An EICR is a report on an existing installation. An Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) is a different document for installation work.
Understand reports and certificatesHow much will my EICR cost?
Domestic EICRs start from £89, with no VAT added. Enter your property size, number of fuse boards and postcode on the booking page to see the price for your property.
Read the EICR cost guideHow long is an EICR valid for?
For covered rental properties in England, inspections must take place at least every five years, or sooner if the report requires it. Owner-occupied homes have different considerations. Check the next inspection date recorded on your report.
Read the landlord requirementsHow long does the inspection take?
Most inspections take around one hour, though some take longer. We reserve a two-hour appointment slot, so please allow access throughout that period. We aim to start at your selected time, but travel or an earlier job may delay arrival. The reserved time usually allows us to complete the inspection within your booked slot.
Will the electricity need to be switched off?
Yes, parts of the testing require the electricity to be switched off. Tell Nadeem beforehand about equipment that needs continuous power, access restrictions, or anyone whose needs affect the inspection.
When will I receive the report?
If you’ve paid in full before the inspection, I’ll usually email your completed report within one working day of finishing the inspection, and always within two working days. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. If you pay after the inspection, please allow a few days from receipt of payment for your report to be emailed. If you have a tenancy or purchase deadline, let me know before booking so we can agree the timing.
What happens if the inspection finds problems?
The report will explain the findings and any recommended action. Where practical, I’ll give a brief update after the inspection. If I find an immediate danger, I’ll inform the occupants and/or owner promptly. Further investigation and repairs are quoted separately, and any additional work is agreed with you first. If I carry out the repairs needed to achieve a satisfactory result, the necessary retesting and satisfactory EICR are included at no extra charge, once the repairs and testing are successfully completed.
